Persons who can apply for a family residence permit:
- Sponsor’s foreign spouse or partner.
- Sponsor’s or his/her spouse’s disabled foreign child, who is over the age of eighteen.
- Parents of the sponsor or his/her spouse, provided that sponsor and, if applicable, his/her spouse are employed and have children under the age of twelve.
- Parents and spouses of those who have a student residence permit.
- Sponsor’s single son under the age of twenty-five and single daughter of any age, except for those whose sponsor resides with a student residence permit.
- Citizen sponsor’s own parents and parents of the citizen sponsor’s spouse over 60 years of age.
Persons who are eligible to be a sponsor:
- Citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
- Residence permit holders
- Permanent residence permit holders
- Holders of work and business establishment permits
- Student residence permit holders
Additionally, the sponsor is required to have a monthly income of minimum wage for a family consisting of no more than four members including him/herself. If the family consists of more than four members, the sponsor is required to have an additional monthly income of not less than 25% of the minimum wage per family member.
Unless there is a contrary provision in statute, a family residence permit can be issued for a maximum of two years each time. But, the duration of the family residence permit cannot exceed the period during which the sponsor is the residence permit holder.
